3 . OMG 😱 Amber Caught Dave and Maria's Secret Chats

Amber stared at her phone screen, the glowing white light illuminating the dim shadows of the living room at 11:42 PM. Her thumb hovered over the notification banner that had just popped up from Dave’s laptop, which was synced to her tablet across the room.

Maria: "Are you sure she suspects nothing about Saturday?"

Amber’s breath hitched. Saturday. That was the day Dave had claimed he was stuck at the office until midnight working on the quarterly audit. Maria was his lead project manager—someone Amber had hosted for dinner just two weeks ago, someone she had considered a friend.

Panic warred with a cold, sharp fury as Amber unlocked the tablet. She tapped open the messaging app, her pulse roaring in her ears like a distant freight train. Scrolling up, the digital trail unfolded like a map of betrayal.

Week after week of inside jokes, late-night "work updates" that clearly had nothing to do with finance, and plans made behind her back.

Dave: "Amber still thinks we're just grinding for the promotion. She's completely clueless." Maria: "Good. Keep it that way a little longer. We don't need any drama before the conference."

Tears pricked Amber's eyes, but they evaporated quickly, replaced by an absolute stillness. She didn't scream. She didn't throw her phone against the wall. Instead, she quietly screenshotted the entire conversation, sending the high-resolution files straight to her own encrypted cloud storage.

Footsteps echoed softly down the hallway. The door creaked open, and Dave walked in, rubbing his eyes, wearing his favorite worn-out grey hoodie.

"Hey, babe," Dave said, his voice casual, dripping with a terrifyingly familiar warmth. "You're still awake? Everything okay?"

Amber slowly set the tablet down on the coffee table, locking the screen. She looked up at the man she had planned to spend the rest of her life with, feeling like she was looking at a stranger through a one-way mirror.

"Yeah, Dave," Amber said, her voice eerily calm. "Just catching up on some reading. We need to talk about Saturday."

Dave’s smile faltered for a fraction of a second—just long enough for Amber to know that the game was entirely over
