The night started like any other night.
Nobody expected Anthony to make a decision that would completely change the direction of his life.
For weeks, everyone around him had noticed that something was different. Anthony was quieter. He wasn't arguing as much. He wasn't chasing people who had already walked away from him. And most importantly, he seemed completely focused on one person.
D’Nisha.
While everyone else was busy talking about the past, Anthony had quietly started thinking about his future.
And on this particular evening, he had already made his decision.
He was going to propose.
But before that moment arrived, Anthony wanted to make sure he had finally closed the doors to everything that had once kept him trapped.
Especially Amber.
And Shayla.
THE SECRET PLAN
D’Nisha had no idea what Anthony was planning.
She thought Anthony had invited her to dinner because he wanted to talk about their relationship.
When she arrived, she immediately noticed that something felt different.
The room was beautifully decorated. There were flowers everywhere, candles on the table, and soft music playing in the background.
D’Nisha looked around.
“Anthony?”
Anthony stepped into the room.
He smiled.
“What?”
She laughed nervously.
“What's going on?”
“Nothing,” Anthony replied.
D’Nisha narrowed her eyes.
“Anthony, don't lie to me. You look nervous.”
Anthony laughed.
“Maybe I am.”
That answer made D’Nisha even more suspicious.
She sat down, but Anthony didn't.
Instead, he walked over to her.
“D’Nisha, we've been through a lot.”
Her smile slowly disappeared.
“I know.”
“I've made mistakes,” Anthony continued. “I've allowed other people to influence decisions that should've been mine.”
D’Nisha looked down.
Anthony continued.
“And there were times when I didn't appreciate the person who was standing beside me.”
D’Nisha's eyes became emotional.
“Anthony…”
He took her hand.
“But I've learned something.”
“What?”
Anthony smiled.
“I don't want to spend the rest of my life looking backward.”
D’Nisha stared at him.
“I want to look forward.”
Then Anthony reached into his pocket.
D’Nisha froze.
“Anthony…”
He slowly pulled out a small black box.
Her hands immediately went to her mouth.
“No…”
Anthony dropped to one knee.
“D’Nisha…”
She began crying.
“I know our journey hasn't been perfect. I know we've had arguments, misunderstandings, and moments when we almost gave up.”
He opened the box.
Inside was a beautiful engagement ring.
“But through everything, you stayed real with me.”
D’Nisha was shaking.
Anthony looked directly into her eyes.
“I don't want another chapter with anybody else.”
He took a breath.
“I want you.”
D’Nisha cried harder.
“Will you marry me?”
For several seconds, she couldn't speak.
Then she nodded.
“Yes!”
Anthony stood up, and D’Nisha threw her arms around him.
They hugged tightly.
And just like that, Anthony had made his choice.
But neither of them knew that someone else was about to hear the news.
AMBER FINDS OUT
The following morning, Amber received a message.
It was short.
“Anthony proposed to D’Nisha.”
Amber stared at her phone.
She read it again.
And again.
Her expression changed completely.
“He proposed?”
She slowly sat down.
For a moment, Amber didn't say anything.
Then she whispered:
“So it's really over.”
The memories came rushing back.
The arguments.
The good times.
The promises.
The moments when Anthony had tried to make things work.
And the times Amber had pushed him away.
She suddenly realized something painful.
Anthony wasn't waiting anymore.
He had moved on.
Amber's eyes filled with tears.
“I thought he'd always come back.”
But he didn't.

Amber picked up her phone and almost called Anthony.
Her finger hovered over his name.
But she stopped.

SHAYLA HEARS THE NEWS
Shayla wasn't expecting it either.
When she heard about the engagement, she immediately called Amber.
“You heard?”
Amber answered quietly.
“Yes.”
“He really proposed?”
“Yes.”
Shayla became silent.
Then she said:
“I can't believe it.”
Amber sighed.
“Neither can I.”
Shayla sat down.
For months, she had believed Anthony's life would remain tangled in the same drama.
She thought there would always be another argument, another reconciliation, another chance.
But Anthony had finally stepped away from all of it.
Shayla suddenly remembered some of the things she had said during the difficult times.
Things she wished she could take back.
“I think we both made mistakes,” Shayla said.
Amber didn't answer.
Shayla continued.
“We thought Anthony would always be there.”
Amber finally spoke.
“Maybe that's what we got wrong.”
THE ENGAGEMENT PARTY
A few days later, Anthony and D’Nisha held a small celebration with family and friends.
Everyone was excited.
D’Nisha couldn't stop smiling.
Anthony looked happier than anyone had seen him in a long time.
Then someone whispered:
“Amber is here.”
The room became quiet.
Anthony looked toward the entrance.
Amber walked inside.
She wasn't there to cause trouble.
She wasn't there to interrupt.
She simply wanted to see Anthony one last time.
D’Nisha noticed her.
For a moment, the two women looked at each other.
Then D’Nisha smiled politely.
Amber returned the smile.
Anthony walked toward Amber.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
There was an awkward silence.
Amber looked at the ring on D’Nisha's finger.
“Congratulations.”
Anthony nodded.
